Graphic Design Slough
While you can – and perhaps should – make excellent use of a Slough graphic design company for your leaflets, posters, adverts, branding, business cards and so on, chances are you’ll be tempted to give design a go yourself at some point. If you’d like to try it out but aren’t sure where to start, here are a few pointers to help get you going.
Think carefully about colour
You should go for a scheme that has between one and three primary colours and between one and three secondary ones that complement each other well. Think outside the box where tone is concerned because you can use the same colour in different ways.
Express sentiment through font
The kind of message you’re trying to convey will dictate the kind of font you should use. As a general rule of thumb, typefaces that have rounded edges are typically seen as being friendlier, while stronger fonts are those with harder edges. Go for something in a serif font if you’re looking for a more sophisticated look to your design.
Think simple
When you’re starting out with graphic design, you’re best off trying to keep things as simple as possible – but it’s very easy to get carried away and before you know it your design is a big mishmash that’s quite hard to look at. Remember that every part of the design should have a reason to be there.
Don’t forget about the hierarchy
While design is a lot of fun, don’t get too caught up in how it looks that you forget what your ultimate goal actually is. The most important part of your message, whatever it is, should be the most dominant part of your design visually.
Take a break
Good design is very time-consuming but an awful lot of fun and before you know it you’ll find that you’ve been sat at your computer for hours, without even realising it! Not only is this bad for you and your posture, but it can have a negative impact on your overall design. Get up, take a break and come back to your work refreshed. It could make all the difference to how it all looks in the end when you’re finished.
