It can never hurt to have a look at what big name companies do when it comes to advertising and marketing if you’re on the hunt for a bit of inspiration where your own branding is concerned, whether they’re in your industry or not.

Everyone dreams of coming up with that perfect slogan or that magical logo that can be instantly recalled by consumers – and there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t do that with a little bit of planning and forethought. The world is your oyster, as they say!

Have a look at some of the biggest companies out there to see what they’ve done and try and work out how they managed to hit the slogan jackpot. A new survey by Sparkloop, reported on by Creative Bloq, has just revealed that the Just Do It slogan from Nike is in fact the most memorable brand tagline of them all, with 45 per cent of all those asked able to recall it on the spot.

Other successful taglines and slogans were McDonald’s I’m Lovin’ It and Tesco’s Every Little Helps… and what might strike you as interesting about these is just how very simple they actually are. It also seems as though a three-word limit is the way to go!

Commenting on the results of the survey, Sparkloop’s Gayle Carpenter was quoted by the news source as saying: “The survey results are extremely interesting and highlight the importance of a holistic approach to creating a brand.

“Successful brands, like Nike, have something very much in common. Although they initially focus on their product or service, they work hard to create a brand movement, attracting a key demographic, who believes in the brand’s values, culture and communications.”

How to come up with a solid brand tagline

Keeping it short and simple seems to be key when it comes to slogan creation. Take a look at some of the most popular and most memorable taglines to see how many words they use and then review yours and see if it could be tightened up.

You’ve also got to make sure that you’re consistent across the board – and this is true for companies of all shapes and sizes. Ensure that your new logo works alongside your company name and the image of your brand you want to project.

Another good tip is to try and come up with a logo and tagline that will both stand the test of time, as you don’t want to have to redesign it in a few years’ time. This could prove both expensive for you and confusing for customers.
